Rising Water Wreaking Havok

For many of us in America it has been a very wet few months and widespread flooding has been seen along the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. This flooding is destroying homes and property especially in states like Mississippi and Louisiana who are at the end of the Mississippi River. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have made the decision that if the mighty Mississippi River swells to 1.5 million cubic feet of water per second they will open up the Morganza Floodway. The floodway would outlet 600,000 cubic feet of water into the central Louisiana region in an attempt to relieve the pressures on the levees downstream on the Mississippi which are only rated for 1.5 million cubic feet of water per second.

  1. I personally like the rain during the spring to wash away all that nasty pollen. I hate my allergies.

But floods are a bit much.

  5. Sounds like the sort of decision where wither way things will be destroyed. Not an easy one to make, that's for sure.
